According to motion 07-02 of the February 25, 2007 Jr. Board meeting for the NTR, this year there is to be a human element added to the ranking system to determine the top 10. As such, the top 10 spots in the rankings for each age group are now decided by a poll and the ranking formula and tournament results are used as tools by the voters.
Top 10 Teams (Updated 4/29/08)
Each age group will have eight voting clubs. These clubs were chosen for their age groups based on consistent top 10 finishes in that age group. In some age groups, clubs declined to be voters. In these cases the next highest consistent finishers were asked. Each club has been encouraged to use the coaches in that age group, the ranking system, the online results, and personal experience as determining factors when voting.
Voting Clubs
The votes will be tabulated as follows: each 1st place vote = 10 points, 2nd = 9, 3rd = 8, etc.
The team in each age group with the most points will be ranked 1st, and so on.
In the case of a tie, we will use the following criteria for tie breaking:
- 1) the team with the most votes
- 2) the team with the most 1st place votes
- 3) the team with the most 2nd place votes
- 4) etc. down to 8th place votes
- 5) coin flip

All rankings for teams not in the top 10 will be determined by the order of rank in the ranking formula tabulation.
